Picture of the Week: No Snow in December

This picture comes from Faribault County, Minnesota. This area of Minnesota has had a mild December in terms of snowfall and temperature. Cold temperatures in this region are important in order for compaction in the soil to be naturally broken up by the expansion of the frost. In addition, a hard frost will kill pests and diseases decreasing the farmer's input costs of pesticides and fungicides the following year.

Remember, we are always looking for agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
