Picture of the Week: Flat, Dirty, and Beautiful

This picture comes from Clay County, Minnesota. The Red River Valley produces primarily sugar beets, corn, soybeans, potatoes and wheat. Fall tillage was done to this field in order to turn the ground black. Black soil heats up faster which will accelerate the spring thaw. In order to plant the upcoming crop, the field needs to be thawed and dried in spring.

Remember, we are always looking for agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
