Picture of the week: Second Cutting of Hay

This picture comes from Waukesha County, Wisconsin where the farmer just finished cutting this hay field for the second time this year. Cutting and baling hay is very dependent on the weather. Ideally, producers would want to cut hay in the morning after the dew has burned off, then flip it within 48 hours, and bale soon after. Any sort of precipitation will delay the baling process.

Remember, we are always looking for agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
