Picture of the week: Harvested Wheat Field in Wisconsin

This picture comes from Green County, Wisconsin. The winter wheat harvest has come to an end for much of the Corn Belt. In this region of the Midwest, farmers plant their crops in strips to help prevent erosion. Here, wheat was grown above a tract of corn. This wheat field has no debris left behind because the stalk of wheat plants can be baled up in straw bales for bedding and feed.

Remember, we are always looking for agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
