Picture of the week: Field Access Point in Ostrander, MN

This picture comes from near Ostrander, Minnesota. Every piece of farmland needs some sort of field access point and this picture depicts what a typical field approach looks like. Often the driveways are about 30 feet wide and made of gravel or dirt so they can handle the weight of heavy farm machinery. Adding additional field access points can increase a parcel's value because it will reduce soil compaction for the operator. The less a farmer has to drive over the same spot means less heavy machinery will be compacting the area's soil which will hurt crop yields.

Remember, we are always looking for agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
