Picture of the week: Planted Corn in Mitchell County, Iowa

This picture was taken last week in Mitchell County, Iowa. Corn has been planted across much of the Corn Belt, but mild temperatures have delayed the emergence of the crop. Many farmers have noted that their top yielding parcels during the bin busting 2009 crop year were planted in the middle to late May. We will have to see if the late 2011 plant will turn into another high yielding year like 2009.

Remember, we are always looking for agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
