Picture of the week: Spraying in Hancock County, Iowa

This picture was taken last week near Forest City, Iowa. The operator pictured is spraying pre-emerge herbicide following their planting of corn. Farmers have been very busy planting corn in the Midwest last week. According to the weekly USDA Planting Progress Report, U.S. farmers planted 27% of their entire corn crop last week. Planting has been much delayed due to the extremely wet weather.
