Picture of the week: Snow Covered Fields in the Upper Midwest

This picture comes from just outside Newry, Wisconsin. Unseasonably warm weather that melted much of the snow cover across the Midwest a couple weeks ago moved out to make way for another winter storm that dumped up to 20 inches of fresh snow across the upper Midwest. Farmers were glad to get as much melt as possible prior to the most recent storm. The threat of a wet, late planting season is still present, but last week’s thaw certainly helped ease the pressure. As soon as the snow completely melts, farmers will hope for warm sunny days to warm up soil temperatures.

Remember, we are always looking for more agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
