Picture of the week: Wheat Harvest in Uruguay

This picture of wheat production in Uruguay was submitted by Dan this week. Wheat bins have been busting in South America while corn and soybean production outlooks are poor due to the La Nina weather pattern. This particular field was yielding 5 tons per hectare. In parts of Argentina, farmers saw 5.5 tons per hectare when 3.5 tons are normal. Expert estimates of Argentinean corn production recently fell below 50 million metric tons due to the small amount of rain that has fallen.

Remember, we are always looking for more agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
