Picture of the week: Land Values Skyrocket in Iowa

This picture comes from the Iowa State University Extension’s 2010 Land Value Survey that was released earlier this week. Farmland values increased substantially throughout 2010, including an overall jump of 15.9% in the state of Iowa. Farmland in portions of North Central Iowa increased over 19% according to the ISU survey. The statewide average value of farmland is now $5,064 per acre. Farmers remained the primary buyers of farmland this year. The survey reported that 70% of all Iowa land sales were purchased by existing farmers. Love to see some appreciation in Iowa farmland. Too bad I own land in Jones, but that means next year it will be the top performer.
