Picture of the week: Standing Corn in Grant County, Minnesota

This picture comes from Grant County, Minnesota. Although USDA figures show that corn harvest is complete across the nation, corn still stands in a few fields. Corn that is still standing makes for great food for many animals, including deer in the Midwest. This picture shows the lack of kernels on the ears of corn because they have been eaten by animals. Unlike 2009, this year has not had much measurable snowfall besides an isolated snow storm in eastern Minnesota. The mild fall weather made for excellent harvest conditions for farmers.

Remember, we are always looking for more agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
