Picture of the week: Corn Harvest in the Midwest

This picture comes from southern Wisconsin. This combine is almost ready to take a break to unload its onboard grain bin. You can see the corn starting to peak out the top. Corn harvest is roughly 51% complete in the primary corn producing states, according to the recent USDA Crop Progress Report. Farmers are having an excellent harvest as corn prices have recently been on the rise and there are little or no drying costs associated with the 2010 crop. Moisture levels are very favorable in this year’s corn crop.

Remember, we are always looking for more agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
