Picture of the Week: Mature Corn in the Midwest

This picture of mature corn comes from Wisconsin. Corn harvest has been progressing across the entire Corn Belt this past week. The USDA reported that 37% of the crop had been already harvested as of Monday. Moisture levels of harvested corn have been ideal for farmers. Typically, grain elevators will dock farmers if corn is above 15% moisture, but this year farmers have been reporting moisture levels close and even below 15% which means their corn will not require additional drying costs.

Remember, we are always looking for more agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
