Picture of the Week: Soybean Harvest in Wisconsin

This picture comes from Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Soybean harvest is in full swing across the Corn Belt. The USDA figures that 17% of the soybean crop had already been harvested by last Monday. In this picture, the farmer is using grain carts to offload his soybeans during his harvest because the combine storage is not big enough to fit the entire field’s crop. Once the farmer is done harvesting with the combine, he will come back with a tractor to haul the grain carts back to his farmstead for storage. This particular field had excellent yields this year. In July upwards of 120 pods per plant were counted from this field.

Remember, we are always looking for more agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
