Picture of the week: Hudson Valley Farmland

This picture comes from the Catskill Mountains in New York. The valley shown is the fertile Hudson Valley. There is some farmland carved out of the forest on the left side of this photo, where some wheat is being grown. Wheat harvest is currently progressing across much of the U.S. New York’s top five agriculture commodities that are produced in-state are dairy products, nursery products, corn, apples, and cattle, according to the USDA. Surprisingly, over 10% of the country’s apples are produced in New York, and almost 7% of the dairy products.

Remember, we are always looking for more agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world. Submit pictures to farmlandforecast@colvin-co.com.
