Picture of the week: Emerged corn in Hancock County, Iowa

This picture was taken earlier this week from Hancock County, Iowa. Farmers across the Midwest were very happy when warmer temperatures arrived earlier this week. Much of the corn crop had turned yellow or brown due to the low temperatures and frost that had hit in early May. Crops made a strong recovery this week, turning green again, as the picture proves. Large amounts of soybeans emerged this week while the corn grew considerably. Watch for the USDA planting progress report that will be released Monday afternoon to see actual corn and soybean emergence statistics, along with crop condition.
