Picture of the week: Field being worked in Osseo, Minnesota

This picture was taken earlier this week from Osseo, Minnesota. The dust just beyond the tree grove is coming from the farmer that is working this particular field. It looks like the farmer was doing some tillage before planting. By the looks of the stalks, this field is probably in a soybean/corn rotation, common to the area, and the farmer is preparing to plant soybeans this spring.

Temperatures across the Midwest have increased substantially from a few weeks ago. Many farmers were able to get an early start to planting, but high levels of precipitation and low temperatures slowed down farmer progress and plant growth. The weather outlook for the weekend calls for warm temperatures that will provide Growing Degree Units, needed for corn growth.
