Picture of the week: Planting corn in Clarks Grove, Minnesota

This picture comes from Clarks Grove, Minnesota. Farmers have been able to get into their fields early for planting corn across much of the Corn Belt this spring. Since the thaw occurred early, and precipitation was average, farmers were able to plant on the first day allowed by crop insurance providers. Farmers have been working hard and fast across the Midwest where the weekend weather forecast calls for rain.

88.8 million acres of corn are expected to be planted this year, according to the USDA. For more information on planting progress, look for our planting progress reports each Tuesday throughout the planting season.
