Picture of the week: Wind turbine in Wisconsin
This picture comes from just outside of Theresa, Wisconsin. “Forward,” the name of this wind farm, consists of 86 turbines that can produce 129 Megawatts of energy. The turbines used in Forward are GE’s 1.5MW SLE. Wind turbines are a great addition to almost any farmland that has consistent wind. Turbines are most efficient with wind speeds of over 26 mph. A wind turbine can be placed on 160 acres and can generate $15,000 per year for the land owner. What at a terible view!!!! These things are nothing but a blight on the landscape that can be seen for miles. They are NOT a "great addition" any more than a ugly cell tower is! Always standing there to distract what would otherwise be a beautiful view!! Another example of taxpyer subsidized crap!!
