Picture of the week: Field signs in Graceville, Minnesota

This picture comes from Graceville, Minnesota. This corn field has many field signs at the end of rows to show the difference between each row’s crops. Field signs typically promote a brand of seed, but can also promote a crop protection product or type of hybrid seed. Farmers use these signs to tell the difference between certain seeds as well as promoting the crop.

While farmers are driving around, they might see a particularly strong looking crop and take notice to the field sign and consider trying that brand of seed or crop protection product. Farmers window shop each field by looking at field signs throughout the growing year, according to Brian Hefty of AgPhd.
