Picture of the week: Grain elevator in Wheaton, Minnesota

This picture comes from Wheaton, Minnesota. Recently, grain elevators across the Midwest have started to not accept soybeans anymore since their supplies are so high. In addition, corn has been docked for low test weights and mold. Dockings have been reported around $0.50 per bushel. It is time for farmers to prepare their own grain bins for winter storage.

Grain elevators accept grain from farmers and keep track of how much each farmer has contributed. When a farmer chooses, they tell the elevator to sell their grain. Grain elevators are often located on railroads because rail is an efficient way to transport large amounts of grain.

Remember, we are always looking for more agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world.
