Picture of the week: Corn in snow from State College, Pennsylvania

This picture comes from State College, Pennsylvania. The extremely wet and cold conditions that hit the Northern Plains have moved east. Snowy, wet conditions have delayed soybean and corn harvest in Pennsylvania and most other eastern farmland states. A quick warm up is expected but more precipitation will follow. It will pay off to have that extra combine in use during those warm days so farmers can try to finish what they had started.

Soybean yields can be affected during late, wet conditions. Once soybeans have dried out naturally for the first time, they can split and break if they soak up too much moisture again.

Remember, we are always looking for more agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world.
