Picture of the week: Sunflowers in Herman, Minnesota

This picture comes from Herman, Minnesota. Besides corn, soybeans, and wheat typically grown in this area, sunflowers are added to the rotation at times. Sunflowers are primarily grown for the oil present in their seeds. Sunflowers have other uses as well, including: meal, human consumption seeds, birdseed, and even some industrial applications. Click here for more information about sunflowers as a crop: http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/afcm/sunflower.html.

Remember, we are always looking for more agricultural pictures from anywhere in the world.
