Farmland values in Jackson, MN skyrockets

The assessed value of rural farmland in Jackson County, MN continues to skyrocket according to the Jackson County Pilot.

Jackson County Assessor Farley Grunig noted that residential property values have fallen but "saw an increase in the valuation of farmland within the county." Grunig said "it was the highest increase I’ve ever seen
up 30 percent this year."

Grunig expects the trend to continue. "We’re going to have a lot of ag land sales by the time this year is over," he said. "Based on sales already, there will likely be another increase next year. Though sales have plateaued here lately, I’d still say we’re in line for about a 10-percent jump."
